Volunteer Opportunity for Current or Retired Educators: Create Lesson Plans to Teach Youth About Foster Care

Copy of Untitled.jpg

Comfort Cases is seeking current and retired professional educators to assist in the development of lesson plans for all grade levels. These lesson plans will provide age-appropriate educational tools and activities to teach children about the foster care system. Desired lesson plans will be aligned with specific books or videos that assist in talking to students about foster care and help to facilitate and guide discussion.

We are seeking volunteers to create lesson plans for students in preschool through college/university. The K-12 lesson plans should be created to align with the Common Core State Standards to increase the likelihood of their use in a classroom setting. We have compiled a list of books and resources to utilize when creating your lesson plans. You will be acknowledged as author and creator in conjunction with Comfort Cases when your lesson plan is shared with schools that participate in our community engagement and outreach program.

Comfort Cases’ mission is to inspire communities to bring dignity and hope to youth in foster care. As such, we have a unique opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of youth in foster care as well as to educate the general public about the experiences of youth in foster care and about the foster care system. We are seeking to provide these lesson plans as tools for the numerous educators at both public and independent schools who engage their students in efforts to support Comfort Cases’ mission.

If you are interested in volunteering for this project, please complete the form linked below. This opportunity can be done virtually, so we welcome educators from anywhere in the country to participate. Please be sure to indicate the grade levels for which you would like to create lesson plans.
